I noticed no one has yet mentioned newlisper's most recent http://newlisper.blogspot.com/2006/04/lisp-in-widget-for-mac-os-tiger.html">post. As usual, newlisper's helpful suggestion contains a cool hack, as well. I don't want to spoil the surprise, but if you're like me and you dislike the unnatural divide between widget space and desktop, you'll be glad you hopped over there and learned the secret, too :-)

Ah, greetings fellow Mac user.

Talk about minorities! There can be only a handful of newLISP MacOS users in the whole world. But world domination is being planned... :-)

Greetings! I, too, noticed you were an apple-eater while rereading your introduction, where you mention being an Applescripter. Try as I may (and with the full knowledge that it gives you the keys to the Mac kingdom), I could not bring myself to code in a language so close to English. I hate the English language! :-)

A world dominated by the use of newLISP is a world I think might experience a little more peace. Programming in newLISP is very Zen-like. How's this for an overblown motto: "newLISP for world peace!" :-)

Why not use /Applications/Utilities/Terminal.app ?

Am I missing something?

Aside from the fact that using Terminal is obvious (read non-hack), newlisper clues us in on how to solve the whole, "How do I get my stupid widgets to show up on my Desktop?" problem. Don't get me wrong, I use Terminal constantly and wouldn't consider replacing it with any JavaScript (JavaScript!?) widget. I just wanted to call attention to newlisper's efforts and thought the info on using defaults to set Dashboard was cool. To each his own. If you prefer Terminal, great. If newlisper wants to exercise his mind and discover a new way to do something, plus bother to write up his experiences for us to profit from, then that's great, too. Great of him and great for us. I guess what your missing is all this greatness! :-)

The widgets float above all other windows - Terminal doesn't do that, does it?
