since I was coming late for newlisp v9.2 I was surprised to see that it didn't run out of the box for me. The IDE didn't start up, the reason being hard-coded paths in newlisp-edit.lsp that didn't match my installation.

There should be a note about this in the release notes and/or download section. Would be a shame to lose newcomes to newlisp through this trifle.
