I wonder if the software of this board has facilities for more restricted access/registration. At the moment anybody can just register and leave spam. Is there some other way running this software?
Lutz
I notice that every few of months, someone will register to post an unwelcome link to some porn site. I'll remove the link and the account as soon as I notice it. Is this the spam that you are referring to?
We could restrict posting privileges to approved members only, but I'm concerned that this would hurt spontaneity, and drive off new members. Another option would be to give administrative privileges to Lutz and other members, to catch and delete those problem messages a little sooner.
How big a problem do you think spam is on this board?
As of the moment its not a mayor problem, but I feel it is increasing.
Lutz
Is it possible to delete a message in the middle of the thread? Or do we have to delete the whole thread?
Fanda
We can delete either one. Is there a post on this board that should be killed?
If you could delete the end of this one (including my message :-)

A solution could be to let new users confirm their regsitration from their
email address. But thats only 1 step that wont block real spammers.
The spammers we have here on this forum simple use somekind of
"AutoBots" to post messages on Php boards..
I've killed the offending message, Fanda. Sorry I didn't see it earlier!
Today, we begin beta testing of the nLFC Mega-Turbo Spam Killer Pro-2006. I think those annoying pr()n messages will be a thing of the past!
Did you program this spam killer in newLisp? ;-)
nLFC Mega-Turbo Spam Killer Pro-2006 uses revolutionary "hyper-generational" logic, extending traditional meta-programming techniques forward into new dimensions by networking in real time the same actual logic sources as are used in creating the language itself.
With this exceptional spam-killing product, the nLFC opens a new and unprecedented era of hyperbole.
Ryon, do you have a website for this software?
Thank you, Fanda
Not until we learn how to de-hyperbolize the algorithms used, Fanda. ;-)
I just wonder where FC stands for ;-)

Everyone knows there is only one language that can do that!
