Title: problem starting guiserver
Post by: newlisper_de on February 19, 2010, 02:46:14 PM
Starting guiserver.jar runs into problems with Zonealarm.

Using "c:Program Filesnewlispguiserver.jar" 47011 c:program filesnewlispnewlisp-edit.lsp will trigger Zonealarm to ask for permission to allow java to function as a server.  After granting permission the program proceeds correctly.

But if you double click on the newLISP-GS icon the java server is not accessible (Zonealarm blocks it) and leaves no reason why.

It would be great if newLISP GS would die with a notice that it could not connect to the gui server instead of quietly dying down.

Thanks for all the great work on newLISP

Thanks for pointing this out. Playing with ports and firewalls can be tricky. Hopefully this can be fixed in a future release.

On the coming development version a message box will pop up on Win32, if a connection from the newLISP process to the Java GUI server cannot be established.
