Mail is sent from newlispfanclub at alh dot net, to the address in your Control Panel > Profile > Edit Account Settings page.

Seems simple enough, enter your email address in the Control Panel, check the Notify Me box, and things should work! I've verified that you did this correctly and also ran a check on our mail server, and everything seems to be in order. So, why isn't this working?

This seems to have been a common issue with phpBB forum software for the past several years, and I don't see any consensus among the admins or support as to its cause. I don't want to change any code or DB settings until I understand the problem.

There is a setting in the UCP > Board Preferences > Edit Posting Results that enables replies by default. If you don't mind getting replies on all your posts, maybe this will work for you. You must be subscribed to the topic/forum before the emails will be sent, and  you will only get one email per new post until you visit the topic, no matter how may replies are made.

Thanks for your participation here, Tim, and hope this helps!

I'll bet that's just what he's doing, Ted! Those Caltecies really know how to party!

Seriously, we are very fortunate to have Lutz Mueller, the author of newLISP himself come to explain the language, and spend so much of his time and considerable knowledge helping us here.

Thanks for all your great work Lutz, and have a great time!

Have you considered opening a new account, and calling yourself "the poster formerly known as janeTA"?

Could take your career in a totally new direction!

By the powers vested in me by ICANN and the Registrar, I declare you to be janeTA. What ICANN, the Registrar, phpBB, and your humble admin hath proclaimed, let no man nor woman put asunder.

You are janeTA now, tomorrow, and for the ages.

Yes, I can neuter you.

I think this is listed in the FAQS, at the top right of this page.

Whither newLISP? / Re: Ethereum

Sorry to hear about Jeff Fox. He was part of a computer movement that I found extremely interesting -- Forth. It was so understandable, so logical. It made the world of computer programming accessible to ordinary guys like me.

Great memories! I never understood exactly what happened, but the world went a different direction and left me behind. There will always be a place here on this website to talk about Forth and the culture surrounding it. Probably in the Anything Else forum, but if not there then I'll make a place just for it. Forth was fun, and I miss it.

Etherium appears to be a branch of the most important social, political, and financial phenomenon of the decade -- Bitcoin. The bitchain and distributed database promise an honesty and accountability in transactions that is only beginning to be appreciated. This will be the technology of the next ten years, just watch.

A memory of the past, and a promise for the future.

newLISP newS / Registration is working again!
July 11, 2013, 01:37:16 PM
My apologies to anyone who has tried to register recently. There was a misconfiguration with our mail server, and our confirmations weren't being sent out.

Please try again, and thank you for your patience!

Quote from: "joejoe"Ryon, thanks for keeping this site alive and kickin! You rock!

Thank you joejoe, for the nice thought! But I'll have to admit that I don't actually rock -- I still don't have this site migrated to the new server. This shouldn't affect availability or operation, though.

But I DID fix the active topics listing for "So, what can you actually DO with newLISP?" My apologies to all for that not working as it should.

Expect some strangeness for the next few days, as we once again do the "server shuffle".

It should be worked out before the end of the week.

newLISP newS / Spam attack -- Update: All clear.
November 16, 2012, 04:52:15 PM
We had a nice little spam attack earlier today. Thank you all who alerted me, and helped delete the spam messages! There were quite a few new "registrations" that I agonized over, worried that I might be deleting legitimate new Members.

Many other sites have been hit as well, and new Member registration will be turned off until we understand the attack, and how to defend against it.

My apologies for any inconvenience!
